Exploring North Korea What Chinese netizens eat when traveling to North Korea

Before traveling to North Korea, my close friends gave me advice. I was told to bring more food with me because I was worried that I wouldn’t have enough to eat in North Korea. As a person on the fat side, I traveled to North Korea with the mindset of remembering the past. Secondly, I wanted to lose a few pounds in North Korea. After arriving in North Korea, I was envious of the North Korean people’s body shape; the women were shapely and most of the men were very thin. People of my size are rarely seen.

With the group has been to many countries, speak the truth, North Korea tour group meal is very conscientious. The food is very diverse. However, the food in North Korea is on the lighter side and not too oily. Perfect for someone like me. During our few days in North Korea, we ate small hot pots, cold noodles, ginseng chicken, various flavors of kimchi, and of course, drank Daido River beer. Meals were served, mainly in foreign restaurants as well as hotels.

In addition, we also ate on a luxury cruise ship on the Datong River. Inside the decoration is very moody, especially the waitresses, each of them is beautiful and attractive. After eating North Korea’s group meals for a few days, I summarized these points. The first point is that the oil and water is not heavy, and the diet is light.

North Koreans are thin, and this may have something to do with it. Secondly, there is very little pork and a lot of duck. In North Korea, the meat we eat is mainly duck, basically all the time have duck. Pork, however, is relatively rare. Beef is not seen at all.

Finally, many of the group meals in North Korea are cold, and North Koreans seem to enjoy cold food. For example, when we dined at a foreign restaurant, sometimes the food was ready and would be served cold for a while. Cold food is fine in the summer, but if it’s winter, it can be a bit overwhelming. On the last day in North Korea, one of the tourists asked the guide why we didn’t have pork for a few days in North Korea.

Our guide replied decisively, don’t you often eat pork at home? To North Korea to eat duck meat, just can change the taste. I have to say, North Korea duck meat is very tender. Later I heard that North Koreans don’t like duck meat very much. As for whether it is true, I did not go to verify. However, it can be seen that in North Korea pork is scarcer than duck. The North Korean people usually have few opportunities to eat pork.
