Indian media asks why China is poorer than India Indian netizens That’s a brilliant question.

Hello, I’m Mr. Chen. Today we’re going to talk about an interesting topic. The Indian media asked why China is poorer than India. Why is China poorer than India?

When I heard this question, my first thought was, “Oh, that’s an interesting question. Think about it, the Indian media thinks China is poorer than India? Isn’t that funny? But let’s not jump to conclusions, let’s talk about the story behind this question.

Interestingly, some Indian netizens responded to this question quite sober. An Indian netizen responded humorously that it is because of people like you, with the wisdom that China can not be expected to raise such a wonderful question. It seems that there is no lack of understanding among Indian netizens who are critical of this kind of claptrap.

So who is stronger and who is weaker in terms of economic power between China and India? Let’s take a look at the data.

According to the latest figures, China’s GDP per capita reached $12,500,000 in 2023, while India’s was $2,600. Just by looking at this figure, China is almost five times higher than India. If we use PPP (purchasing power parity), China’s per capita PPP is 2,53 times that of India. That’s quite a gap!

You may ask why the Indian media has such a strange view.

There could be several reasons

1 Poor information. Some Indians may not have the opportunity to see China’s development with their own eyes and can only learn about it through the media. If the media reports are biased, misunderstandings can easily arise.

2 Different calculation methods. India uses the Modi method to calculate GDP, which may include some things that should not be included in GDP, leading to data distortion.

3 Self-assurance. Some people may not want to face the reality, so they try to find a reason for themselves, even if it sounds a bit ridiculous.

4 Individual phenomena misunderstood as a general phenomenon. For example, some Indian netizens say that when they see Chinese people hesitating in front of Indian food stalls, they think that Chinese people are poor. This may simply be due to concerns about hygiene rather than an inability to pay.

Having said that, an interesting example comes to mind. In response to a similar question, an American netizen said One minute he says the Chinese are too rich, buying houses everywhere and pushing up prices, and the next minute he says they are so poor that they can only eat leaves and barks of trees. Aren’t these people a bit confused?

This American netizen makes an interesting point! It’s true, sometimes there are contradictory views of China.

So what do we do in the face of such misunderstandings?

1 Stay confident. We need to know what is in our hearts, and not let other people’s misunderstandings affect our judgment.

2 Learn more about the world. See more of the outside world, increase insight, so that we can have a more objective understanding.

3 Rationalization. Every country has its own strengths and weaknesses, we have to look at the problem objectively and fairly, do not be presumptuous, and do not be blindly arrogant.

4 Strengthen exchanges. If you have the opportunity to communicate with friends from other countries, let them understand the real China, but also let us understand the real world.

Students, what do you think? Welcome to share your thoughts with us in the comment section. Remember, we should speak with facts, prove with data and respond with actions. China’s development is real, not blown up.

Finally, I would like to say that no matter what others think of us, we have to be down-to-earth, study hard and contribute to the development of our country. This is what we should do!

Well, that’s all for today. Students, remember to think more, communicate more, let us improve together! See you next time!
